Terms & Acceptable Use

Last updated: 2026-09-10 · These terms govern your use of dashdrop.dev. By uploading, sharing, or accessing content you agree to them.

1. The service

DashDrop hosts text snippets and files and serves them over the web and a developer API. We provide the service on an "as is" basis and do our best to keep it available, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted uptime on free accounts.

2. Accounts

You need a verified email address for an account. You're responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your password and API keys secret. Don't share keys or let others use your account. Tell us promptly if you think a key has leaked — you can revoke keys yourself at any time from your keys page.

One person or organisation per account. Creating multiple free accounts to get around storage or rate limits is a violation of these terms.

3. Prohibited content

You may not upload, host, link to, or distribute:

• Credential dumps, combo lists, stealer logs, or any collection of account credentials
• Personal data obtained unlawfully, or data you have no right to hold or share
• Payment card numbers, government identifiers, or private keys belonging to others
• Malware, exploit kits, ransomware, or phishing pages and templates
• Child sexual abuse material — reported to authorities without exception
• Content that infringes copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights
• Content that harasses, threatens, or incites violence against people or groups
• Spam, deceptive advertising, or content designed to defraud
• Material illegal in Morocco, the United States, or the European Union

We scan public uploads automatically for known-abusive content. Private and password-protected content is not routinely scanned, but the rules above still apply to it, and we will act on credible reports or lawful requests.

4. Fair use

Storage and transfer limits are published on the pricing page and apply per account. Beyond those numbers, we ask that you use the service the way it's meant to be used:

• Don't use DashDrop as a content delivery network for a high-traffic site or application
• Don't use it as a backup target for large-scale automated archival
• Don't distribute a single large file to a mass audience — that's what a CDN is for
• Don't run automated processes that create or delete content purely to churn quota

If your usage is materially out of step with normal use for your plan, we'll contact you first and work out a fair arrangement before taking any action.

5. API rate limits

API access is subject to rate limits that vary by plan. Anonymous and unauthenticated requests are limited most tightly; authenticated requests on paid plans get the highest allowances. Exceeding a limit returns 429 Too Many Requests — back off and retry rather than hammering the endpoint.

When polling a file for changes, use conditional requests (If-None-Match with the file's ETag). Unchanged files return 304 Not Modified cheaply and don't count against transfer. Repeatedly downloading an unchanged file in full is considered abusive polling.

We may adjust rate limits to protect the service. Sustained abuse of the API may result in key revocation.

6. Retention, deletion & recovery

Content created without an account is retained for a maximum of 90 days and is deleted automatically. Content on a verified account is retained until you delete it or your account closes, subject to any expiry you set yourself.

When an account holder deletes content, we keep it in a recoverable state for 7 days before permanent deletion, so you can restore it if you deleted it by mistake. Recoverable content continues to count toward your storage quota until it is permanently purged. You can purge immediately if you need the space back sooner.

Content removed by us for violating these terms is not recoverable.

7. Your content

You keep ownership of everything you upload. You grant us only the limited permission needed to store, transmit, and display your content in order to run the service. We don't sell your content, and we don't use it to train models.

You're responsible for having the rights to whatever you upload, and for the consequences of sharing it.

8. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms. For serious violations — illegal content, malware, credential dumps — we act immediately and without notice, and free accounts are terminated without appeal. For everything else we'll normally warn you first.

You can close your account at any time. Export your data first; we permanently delete account content after closure.

9. Reporting abuse

To report content that violates these terms, email abuse@dashdrop.dev with the URL and a short description. We review reports promptly and act on valid ones.

10. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, DashDrop is provided without warranties, and we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, or lost data. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here excludes liability that can't lawfully be excluded.

Keep your own backups of anything important. Use the export endpoint.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced by email to account holders at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.
